About me

I grew up in the UK, went to school in Northamptonshire, then studied English & French at Stirling University in Scotland.
Following my Bachelor's degree, I spent a year in Glasgow, then came to Paris to work as an English language assistant at the Sorbonne Nouvelle university. I also taught phonetics there and tutored some students privately. I went on to become a bilingual PA, then a project manager in a Parisian translation agency, where I discovered a love for translation. Less than two years later, I launched my freelance career as a translator. I've been translating (and occasionally copywriting) since 2001.
In 2022, I decided to take my career in a new direction so I could have more contact with people and share my love of learning languages. So I took the CELTA course (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and went on to teach children and adults in the Pays de Gex, while continuing my translation work as well. As I'm (almost) bilingual and an experienced translator, I can happily explain things in French and usually provide instant translations. Just think of me as a walking dictionary!

A joint effort. Together, we decide at the end of each session what we need to work on the next time.
English lessons at my home in Saint-Genis-Pouilly. I welcome you in a calm, friendly setting, during your lunch hour, or just before or after work. I'll adapt to your schedule.
Online English lessons. Wherever you are, training can also take place remotely, via Zoom.
Personalized learning tools. I can create written materials or find role-play or game ideas, etc. to help you achieve your objectives.
No pressure! We work at your pace, no-one else's.
A sense of humour. Learning a language should be enjoyable, not dull and boring. I always try to inject an element of fun into my training sessions.

English Lessons in the Pays de Gex

There are over 90 different nationalities in Saint-Genis-Pouilly alone! The Pays de Gex is a region of France like no other. Its proximity to the Swiss border and many international organisations (WHO, UN, CERN, etc.) gives it a unique character and demographics. Many of the people living here are expats and English is their working language. Many don't speak much French. And many of these people are potential customers for your business. It goes without saying that being able to communicate in English can have a very positive impact on your business - and will always be useful in life too, of course! Whether you live in Saint-Genis-Pouilly, Gex, Ferney-Voltaire, Divonne-les-Bains or work in Geneva, my English lessons are tailored to your needs.

Rates

On-site training (min. 3, max. 6 people):

1 hour: €20 per person
90 minutes: €30 per person

Online lessons via Zoom:

Individual learners: €40 per hour
Groups (min. 3, max. 6 people): €50 per hour

Note:
On-site training is limited to a maximum of 6 people to ensure everyone has ample opportunity to participate.
On-site training takes place at my home in Saint-Genis-Pouilly. Online training via Zoom is available anywhere.
